District level school bus safety committee established

District level school bus safety committee established:
Maharashtra State motor transport School buses regulation act 2011 has mandated separate license for school buses and has also initiated district level committee for regularising the same. The act enables school level transport committee with School Principal as head of the committee, one member from parent teacher union, local police inspector, local motor vehicle inspector, education inspector, bus contractor representative and local constituency representative.
It also mandates having buses having age less than 15 years, yellow colour and School bus marked on both sides along with first aid box. It mandates having gents/ ladies assistant along with driver depending on bus to carry boys or girls. Jalgaon district level committee has been setup and Police SP as head, ZP CEO or their appointed representative, Corporation commissioner or appointed representative, State transport manager for city buses service, divisional controller for State road transport corporation, ZP educational officer and one Taluka each member. Implementing the desired regulation in student friendly manner is biggest challenge here and would involve equal exercising efforts from bureaucracy and school levels.
