Banana yields reduces in Girana dam belt:
The Chalisgaon Taluka, once upon a time famous destination for good banana yield is witnessing sharp decline in produces seeing last 5 years graphs for various reasons. Majority of farmers have moved towards other cash rich crops like cotton and fruit farms. Chalisgaon Taluka having Girana River crossing had most of River bank areas as high yield zones.
However lowering dam storages, rising fungal infections on banana have drastically reduced farmer’s inclination towards banana and Taluka having 186,000 hectare irrigable land now has merely 365 hectare banana crops.
