North Maharashtra University conducted All India Universities Confederation conducted west zone inter-university Kabbadi competition is beginning today in Jalgaon. Competition has 10 teams participating and inaugural ceremony is in afternoon. It has four groups of teams at four different grounds and matches would go in parallel. Host NMU team is in group-4 and would play its first match against Veer Narmada Southern University Surat. There are in all 432 players from 36 different Universities of 6 States with 72 managers and 30 referees.

Jalgaon city Municipal Corporation yesterday met to review various topics on its agenda. This included decision on formation of silence zones in city. Body has approved civil hospital area, L. N. High School, R. R. High School to Sagar School zone, Bhaskar Market neighbouring Hospitals zone, Court zone and M. J. College area. City’s Sagar Park, G. S. ground and Khandesh Mill complex area are excluded from zones. This would imply ban of use of loud horns, loud speakers, firecrackers and sound systems.

This has sent the council formation process in backyard and is likely to take 4-6 months ahead to complete.

National cycling competition – Army men dominates the game:
Army cyclist Gurmeet singh has won the national cycling competition ‘Tour De Jalgaon’ 2011 conducted yesterday. The game had largely dominating performance of army personnel with top 3 position occupied by them. Gurumeet took 2 hours 19 minutes 48 seconds to achieve the title.
In State Category, Hussain Koragu won the title with 2 hours 23 minutes. State level’s top six awards remained in name of Sangli. Competition had 125 participants and had 80kms for men and 16kms for women. In women category, Jalgaon cyclist shined and Bhakti Narkhede, Vaishali Kumavat and Aishwarya Jagdale won top-3 titles respectively.

Gynaecologists strike affects medicals services in region:
Jalgaon district gynaecologist yesterday marked a protest one-day strike against district administration’s on-going sonography centres raids and surveys. Because of this, district civil hospital in Jalgaon and sub-urban areas government hospitals yesterday remained rushed with such patients needing emergency assistance. District’s around 150 Gynaecologists participated in the strike to mark their protest to officials’ methods adopted and troublesome approach followed against their profession.

Sadguru Education Society is conducting national level cycling competition on 18th September in Jalgaon. Competition attracts total prize money of Rs. 3.25 Lakhs and has received National and State counterparts approval and affiliation. It would begin at Raymond crossing in MIDC and move to Kusumba, Chincholi, Pahur, Wakod and then in return Fardapur to Raymond crossing again. NEWS :- Dhule Chalisgaon Highway four-lane works

Dhule – Chalisgaon Highway four-lane works:
The proposed Dhule – Chalisgaon – Solapur National Highway# 211 four-lane work has turned to slow pace following land acquisition/ current road state in Kannad Ghat near Chalisgaon. The Dhule to Solapur Highway has 600kms length and this include 73.40kms in Jalgaon division of NHAI having Dhule to Kannad Ghat area. Both NH#6 and NH#211 are now with National Highway authority of India under National Highway development plan phase#4B since March-2010. NHAI survey has revealed need of bypass road to this Kannad Ghat following in between Gautala forestry. Acquiring land from State forestry department might have impact the four-lane process and hence this decision of 9kms bypass is under consideration. Authorities are exploring various alternatives in the reference. State PWD has prepared 9Crores repairs and update proposal for this Ghat road.

Banana rates are dipping down with every day and this has put farmers in trouble on managing their finances. Yesterday rates went down further and reached its bottleneck of Rs. 340 per quintal, which is even far lower than their overheads in producing. Farmers have urged governmental authorities and its association to take immediate steps to have at least basic rates availed. Banana reached its peak rates in May-2011 and had Rs. 1,300 per quintal rate and Rs. 600 for returns.

The sharp declining gender ratio in district has turned to a major concern for governmental authorities. Because of this, the local committee monitoring this aspect has increased its checks at various gynaecologists and their centres. State has taken one-step ahead in this perspective and has now taken off rights of local committee to remove seals of such centres found guilty.
On the other front, such continued raids and actions have put local Gynaecologists in troubles and their association has planned to stop abortions. The association representatives met District Collectorate yesterday and conveyed this planned action.

Tarsod temple located at distance of 8kms from Jalgaon is one of most ancient times temple having records of establishment since year 1662. The temple witness huge rush of devotees during every peak festive day as it is beloved to be the most empowering and wishes completing Ganpati temple. Historic records further reveals that Maratha army while moving towards Northern Indian area took rest in Murarkhede (currently nothing) near Tarsod. One of these army personnel Moreshwar Hanmant Deshpande constructed this temple. Artisan carved the temple idol from Nashirabad in 1662 and the idol was consecrated. The Tarsodkar family later devoted 36R land to temple. Temple witnesses huge rush of devotees on every ‘संकष्टी चतुर्थी’ and observe Goddess Gayatri enchanting on every Ganesha festive eve.

North Maharashtra University Vice Chancellor post interviewed aspirants have been further filtered in top-5 candidates by the selection committee and the same has been recommended to Chancellor cum State Governor for further processing. Chancellor would interview these aspirants today. This includes NMU Electronics department head Dr. D. K. Gautam, Dr. Pandit Vidyasagar, Dr. Dilip Pangavhane, Dr. N. S. Chaudhari and Dr. Meshram.

Monsoon raining stats reaches 80%:
With rain pouring around in whole region, the raining statistics in district have crossed 80% mark to that of average raining here. District is having continued medium to heavy raining since last 2 weeks. District’s 13 small dam have reached full levels wherein large dam are around almost half range of storage levels. Currently Hatnur dam’s 32 doors are open by 1meter to control the water pressure.
Statistics until now reveals Erandol at top of rainfall with 95.3% raining and Jamner with 61.6% raining and on bottom of chart.

Infrastructure has been a key factor and politically sold topic of discussion and Jalgaon district has hard luck here. Major urban areas including Jalgaon city are in worst State of road infrastructure with most of roads down with large number of holes and bad patch of levels. Grim here has been most of governmental works for these references are executed with lowest priority and attention and because of this, most of the works have lower life span and even its raw materials remain lying for many days without any attention. The recent growth has raised a need of immediate attention to this aspect failing which this growth cannot trigger its manifold growth. Bureaucracy and diplomacy here has to think and execute above infrastructure as selling point.

Heavy raining followed by flooding on Thursday has caused losses worth Rs. 2.25 Crores in crops and another one Crore in houses damages in Raver Taluka. A youth drown in Suki River flooding and one more was killed with lightening. Administration and State authorities are yet to announce their compensation or review on this. Chopda, Dharangaon and Jalgaon Taluka have also witnessed significant losses on the front.
Monsoon raining has raised dam water levels of 7 dam to 100% and district’s major reservoirs Girana and Waghur are witnessing significant rise with every day. Latest statistics reveals Erandol on top of raining chart with 94.4% rainfall and Jamner with 60.4% until now with average rainfall of 74%.

Khandesh region’s most of areas witnessed rain pouring yesterday with Satpuda hills region having heavy raining recorded in very short span of time. Region had around 114mm raining in mere 2hours causing waterlogging in farms and and many Rivers flooding. Nagjhiri River crossing from within Raver city has flooded and Chopda based Ratnavati River has also flooded. Both Rivers’ water entering into many bank areas has paralysed life of many. Primary estimates reveal around 10 Crores losses and administration is yet to begin its assessment. This Raining reminded citizens of year 2006 flooding with around 300mm rainfall in a single day.
