Formerly part of territory controlled by the Holkar family of Dhangar Dynasty rulers, Jalgaon became part of British India's Bombay Presidency in 1818.
In Jalgaon District, there were Saranjamdar families who administrate this region as Bhoite, Shendurni, Muzumdar. These were also referred as Pargana Watandars.
