Jalgaon Corporation’s development plan gets red signal from Centre

Jalgaon Corporation’s development plan gets red signal from Centre:
Jalgaon city development plan is awaiting approval since last two years. In spite of the fact that State has technically approved the project, Centre has restricted Corporations not to send the proposals for consideration. Centre’s decision has come amidst non-utilisation of such development funds in time span and has ordered to utilise the grants first and not to send projects till this time.
Corporation’s much talked and politically sold 2,100 Crores cost based city development plan had 80% fund plan from Centre and rest 20% from State. This proposal’s first part having 221 Crores new drinking water supplies line laying and 156 Crores based drainage pipes work have received State approval. Local MLC and Central political pressure could only ease and get the proposed development in track.
Rapid growth in city in last few years has exposed Corporation’s city planning. City road traffic has turned out of control, largely increasing accidents, lack of roads and infrastructural facilities, ample drinking water, electricity still remains key challenges for Corporation.
